Why I Hate Lawn Sprinklers! #DogsComeClean

Why I Hate Lawn Sprinklers! #DogsComeClean #LiquidPlumr, by Rebecca Sanchez, The Pet Lifestyle Guru at MattieDogYou want to know why I hate lawn sprinklers? Because my dog loves them….and he is a long hair, full coat Shih Tzu, that’s why! My dog goes nuts whenever he hears the electric click that indicates that the automatic lawn sprinkling system is about to start. I mean full excite-oh-mania mode! Now, we’ve shared our lives with about eight other dogs with seven of them being Shih Tzus – not a single one prior to our current fuzzy pup ever got close to water…unless you count the bath time. Not this one – Mook loves rivers, streams, mud puddles, and he puts his face in the lawn sprinkler and chews at the water just like a Labrador. This doesn’t just happen once in a while, it’s every warm day when we are walking around the neighborhood and he spots lawn sprinklers!

Mook likes to play in lawn sprinklers, day after day, three times a day… it can get to be much, specially as his wet hair picks up dirt and grit that builds up, not coming out until I wash him. Great, not only does it take a bit of time to wash and dry my sweet little boy – now I’ve got to clean the tub. Oh, who am I kidding – I love the little guy, and he can’t help himself, so what’s a dog mom to do? Scrub, scrub, scrub and then pray the drain doesn’t clog!

Recently, we’ve been using Liquid-Plumr to help maintain our drains, help prevent new clogs, and to keep them smelling fresh – it cleans up the shampoo and creme rinse (yes, we use creme rinse on our dogs!) and the pup hair that builds up in our doggy bathtub (yes, we have a doggy bathtub!). We show a little TLC, Full Clog Destroyer, after our pup is fully dried, and off playing somewhere else in the house or yard, and viola, drain is good as new – the clogs didn’t stand a chance!

  1. My mix (possible a little Shi-poo going on) is afraid of water so I am the one who has to be held back on those hot summer days!

    • Ha ha ha!! Well, sometimes you have to do what you have to do!

    • Yes, once a week and it keeps things clean!

  2. Bol!!! The Lapdogs are NOT fans of sprinklers.

  3. My Golden Retriever LOVED our water sprinkler. I think we will have to introduce Pierre to it this summer.

    • See, now that makes sense – a Golden Retriever! We’ve tried to talk some sense in to our pups…but, they don’t want to listen!

  4. That video now has over 126 K. views. I appreciate companies that give back. Yay for the Grey Muzzle Organization for getting 10K.

    • Us too – we love this piece of the campaign!

  5. Layla hates anything that will make her wet BOL

  6. Our dogs love the sprinklers – we can get them away from them. However, I know more dogs that are just what you were describing. Enjoyed your post.

  7. My dogs do not like sprinklers at all, thankfully, but I’m no stranger to drains full of Husky hair!
