Easy To Make Salmon Sliders For Your Hangry Dog!

Easy To Make Salmon Sliders For Your Hangry Dog!

When our dog shows the emotion built up from their hunger…with little satisfaction, and then anger intersects, they are hangry! This last weekend, our sweet pups were hangry. Why? Because we went for a 5 mile hike and as a result they were starving! They had breakfast at 6 a.m. and it was noon, which put dinner about 4 hours away. You ever had hangry-eyed dogs stare at you? It’s like acupuncture, only less soothing and more poking. It was a stare down – my Shih Tzu’s glaring at me, trying to will me to make them a snack. Guess what? It worked! The snack? Easy to make salmon sliders, made special for my hangry dogs!

Easy To Make Salmon Sliders For Your Hangry Dog! by Rebecca Sanchez, The Pet Lifestyle Guru at MattieDogWhenever I want to give my dogs a nice, healthy, omega-3 rich snack I make them my world famous salmon sliders. Why are they world famous? Well, dogs come from far and wide to eat my salmon sliders – and from far and wide, I mean our bay window and even as far as from our basement sofa. Yup, my dogs – some might consider them spoiled.

Hangry Dog Salmon Sliders

  • 1 6oz can salmon, no salt (we use Wild Planet)
  • 1 C steamed broccoli
  • 1 C steamed spinach
  • 1/2 C steamed sweet potato
  • 10 blueberries

Place ingredients, organic is best, in your food processor (we use a Cuisinart Mini) and mix until items are incorporated. Once mixed together the texture should be like raw hamburger. Take some of the mixture and form into little sliders and serve. This recipe provides nice size snacks for 4 hangry pups. Why do we and our dogs love this salmon slider recipe? Because the ingredients are well mixed, our dogs get all sorts of good nutrition – and they taste like salmon. Dogs enjoy veggies – many people think they don’t, but honestly, the flavors interest them. Greens just need to be broken down, mixed up in order for your fuzzies to love them. You can play around with our recipe – change out ingredients with ‘safe for dog’ goodies, such as kale and pumpkin – use your imagination.

    • Too funny – we make the ingredients on our grill (in the summer when we BBQ salmon) and then separate them…some for us, some for the pups! Big hit all the way around!

  10. These look good(as in for my belly :P). I’m so glad you recommend using cooked salmon as an ingredient! I knew I remembered reading that salmon was potentially toxic to dogs somewhere, so I googled it, turns out its only raw salmon that is dangerous! Kudos on a great recipe!
