Love Is My Favorite Thing – Review

Love Is My Favorite Thing by Emma Chichester Clark

This wonderful children book stars a truly enthusiastic pup named Plum. Plum just can’t sit still…what dog can? Plum bounces around from one thing to the next because her  joy, optimism and love knows no bounds. This fun little picture book was a wonderful read about a family’s unconditional love for their dog.

BookAgesWhat makes Plum special? Her sheer excitement about everything she sees – if she sees it, she loves it! Catching sticks, her bear, her bed— and as the story moves forward you begin to understand that what Plum really loves is love. LOVE is Plum’s absolute favorite thing.

Without giving things away let’s say that Plum may need some positive training – she’s a bit rambunctious. What this book hopes to show is that no matter what, if you are a part of a family you are loved; and that love is unconditional – not situational. After Plum has a little less than stellar outing, she wonders if her family will still love her…because after all, love is Plum’s absolute favorite thing.

MattieDog’s Review

MattieDog Recommended BookWording is perfect for a 3-6 year old and illustrations are engaging and relay the exuberant and love-worthy Plum. The fonts used in the book are fun as well as large, making it an easy read for everyone. We ‘lub’ any book that teaches children how to love an animal, so we were pleased with the premiss of the story and the cadence with which it unfolds.

  7. I have a student in my Kindergarten class who LOVES everything – sticks, leaves, stickers, animals, toys, snacks, etc. His absolute love of everything gets to be overwhelming at times for his classmates and family. This book would help him realize he has a very special gift in common with Plum – true love. “Love is my Favorite Thing” would also help the other students relate to this joyful kiddo.
