Why I Hate Lawn Sprinklers! #DogsComeClean

Why I Hate Lawn Sprinklers! #DogsComeClean

You want to know why I hate lawn sprinklers? Because my dog loves them….and he is a long hair, full coat Shih Tzu, that’s why! My dog goes nuts whenever he hears the electric click that indicates that the automatic lawn sprinkling system is about to start. I mean full excite-oh-mania mode! Now, we’ve shared our lives with about eight other dogs with seven of them being Shih Tzus – not a single one prior to our current fuzzy pup ever got close to water…unless you count the bath time. Not this one – Mook loves rivers, streams, mud puddles, and he puts his face in the lawn sprinkler and chews at the water just like a Labrador. This doesn’t just happen once in a while, it’s every warm day when we are walking around the neighborhood and he spots lawn sprinklers! Mook likes to play in lawn sprinklers, day after day, three times a day… it can get to be much, specially as his wet hair picks up dirt and grit that builds up, not coming out until I wash him. Great, not only does it take a bit of time to wash and dry my sweet little boy – now I’ve got to clean the tub. Oh, who am I kidding – I love the little guy, and he can’t help himself, so what’s a dog mom to do? Scrub, scrub, scrub and then pray the drain doesn’t clog! Recently, we’ve been using Liquid-Plumr to help maintain our drains, help prevent new clogs, and to keep them smelling fresh – it cleans up the shampoo and creme...

It’s a really cool place to live – home to the sparkling Puget Sound, one of the largest ocean inlets in the world, glorious peak-filled mountains, and millions of acres of national and state land. We often take the long drive from Seattle through the North Cascade mountains to visit the Methow Valley. The ‘Methow’ is amaze-balls – it feels like home to our family, nestled in the mountains with numerous glacial-filled rivers for salmon fishing, and thousands of miles of trails for riding horses and skijoring. Nature Is Glorious, and Wild – So Keep Your Pups Protected With #SentinelSpectrum Traveling as much as we do, we rely on year-around parasite protection to help keep our pups healthy – you just can’t be too careful when your goofball, long-haired Shih Tzu’s like to play in rivers and stroll along the trails that often have wildlife critter scat and deer, cow and horse ‘dumps’ strewn, well, wherever wildlife like to roam. Hey, it’s nature – it’s not like you can just pick...

Meditation Monday: May, from the MattieDog Perspectives series. ~ Rebecca Sanchez, The Pet Lifestyle Guru™, Momma and Forever Servant to MattieDog Have you heard of laughing yoga? It really is quite simple, per laughteryoga.org “laughter is a universal language we all speak without any language barrier. Laughter is a powerful tool to connect people from different cultures and countries and provide social network of people who care for each other. By setting up laughter clubs all over the world we are creating a worldwide community of like-minded people who believe virtues like unconditional love and laughter generosity & forgiveness.” But what does laughter and dogs have in common? Could barking be similar to laughter? Barking or laughter – just do it on Meditation Monday! Barking….Laughter? Yup! Really it’s simple… you can laugh with a focused intention, it’s easy. Do you have to be funny to laugh? No. Anyone can laugh…and you don’t need to fall-back on humor, off color jokes or some comedy. Why? Laughter brings oxygen to your body – throat, lungs and ultimately your neurological system, including your brain. Laughter and yoga, when combined through simple actions like open arms, or face-to-face experiences, is, at its’ core, incorporating the true deep breathing exercises from yoga and the natural...
