CANIDAE Pet Food Made By Pet People! #HealthyPetHappyPet

This post is sponsored by CANIDAE® Pet Food and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. All proceeds that I receive for helping create awareness about the GrainFree PURE line of pet food is being donated to Mary’s Place to help with their new temporary housing shelter that allows women, family and their pets! We here at MattieDog® only share information we feel is relevant to you, our readers. CANIDAE is not responsible for the content of this article. Lately, we’ve been doing a lot of research to find a variety of quality dog foods for our pups. Quality to us means healthy, nutritious, as close to farm-to-table as possible, and yummy to our dogs. While many people think that dogs will eat anything, that’s often not true – and it’s certainly not true with our little girl, Lulu. Lulu has the oddest of tummies, and she requires proteins that are a bit more exotic, otherwise we’re likely guaranteed to see a bit of up-chuck. Oh, don’t be fooled – being a pet parent isn’t all glamour and mutt struts. When we were introduced to CANIDAE® we were very interested to learn more – we dug what read, and that CANIDAE is Pet Food Made By Pet People™! Why CANIDAE? Just like Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer said to his would be dentist buddy, in-de-pen-dent! CANIDAE is an independent, family-owned pet food company that was started 1996. That’s a very long time in the pet-food industry, you have to applaud Scott and John for keeping things real, and focused on one thing: a healthy pet food. Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well, it is...
Homeless Haven For Families With Pets On The Amazon Campus

Homeless Haven For Families With Pets On The Amazon Campus

Most of you know that we live in Seattle. One of the most beautiful cities on the planet – vibrant, free-wheeling and big enough to have numerous James Beard winning restaurants, famous artists and musicians, quite a few colleges, championship sports teams, all without losing its eclectic, funky feel. One of the coolest locations in Seattle is a bio-tech/technology hub built on the south end of Lake Union. A lake in the downtown area of a city? Yup… told you it was an awesome place! In this special little area of the city you’ll see that it is home to world-class healthcare and research facilities, global health advocates, technology giants and the biggest book dealer on the planet. Homeless Haven For Families With Pets On The Amazon Campus Amazon.com has numerous buildings that make up a sprawling campus – and they are expanding. One of their buildings is an older 34,500-square-foot hotel scheduled for a 2017 demolition to make way for growing corporate offices. The options for managing the building in the interim were endless for Amazon – and all could have made revenue. What did Amazon do with this building? They allowed a a nonprofit (Mary’s Place) dedicated to helping homeless women and their families, run a shelter housing more than 200 people (60-70 families) for a year – rent free! Not only that – the housing allows for families to bring their pets. For those of us who live in Seattle, this pet-friendly approach is not new for Amazon – they have a dog-friendly workplace with about 1,500 dogs on their campus. Virbac is not responsible for the content of this article: Parasites are a bummer-stop bugging! #SentinelSpectrum Parasites…. they are a bummer! Most people easily recognize the standard parasites, fleas and heartworm and the like, but did you know that the 6 most common ones aren’t easily treated with one product? Six types of parasites you say? Yikes! Yup, grosserito – these include: the two mentioned above, plus hookworm, roundworm, tapeworm and whipworm. That’s a lot of worms! With one monthly beef or bacon flavored chew you can protect your pup against these potentially serious and health altering buggers! So yes, parasites are a bummer-stop bugging, have a chat with your dog’s veterinarian about Sentinel® Spectrum®. What Makes Sentinel Spectrum So Earth Shattering? While there are other flavored chew-based products, Sentinel Spectrum has taken a great approach to parasite prevention. Each little tasty chew is intelligent in its’ approach to defending your pet inside and out: treating immature (no, not like Wayne’s World immature) heartworm larva and preventing them from turning into adult worms. It protects against several other common types of worms as it stops the invader at the source, halting the maturation that can occur in your dog’s heart or lungs (heartworms) as well as...
Why My Friend Named Her Dog Tahiti….or Planning Healthcare For Your Pet

Why My Friend Named Her Dog Tahiti….or Planning Healthcare For Your Pet

You would do anything for your dog, right? Knee surgery, special diet, allergy medicines….these are all things that are no-brainer, aren’t they? Of course they are – we are dog lovers extraordinaire! So imagine my surprise the other day when while discussing with a friend the cost of ‘saving’ her dog she mentioned that she’d renamed her dog Tahiti. Tahiti? Why Tahiti? “Because what it cost to save her was the cost of our next vacation!” Ah! I get it… this is why my friend named her dog Tahiti! “I thought of “College education,” said my friend…”but could you imagine screaming that at a dog park,” she offered. “Come here College Education!” Yup, she had a point. Naming your dog ‘College Education’ just doesn’t have a ring to it. We stood in our doorway, taking a break from our day, talking, laughing at the potential of calling your dog silly names instead of giving things to your family….”Stay off the couch Toyota!” Ha ha ha! Oh gosh, what animal lovers won’t do for their fuzzy ones. In all seriousness, my friend, Emily, is a great mom and she puts her family first. Her family includes those recently adopted and with four legs. Love….it doesn’t wax and wane…it just is. Emily knew that when she adopted her dog that she had to put the needs of her pup first, particularly if something drastic happened, above conveniences like vacations. Emily had just adopted her pup, after having to make the hard decision to let her senior pup go into that sweet night. Life is for those that believe life is worth living....
